Performance Pistol 202

July 11 @ 08:00 - July 12 @ 16:00

“Speed is no more inaccurate than slow is accurate.”

– Rob Leatham, professional shooter, multi-time world and national pistol champion and expert firearms instructor.

After graduating from the Introduction to Performance Course (GPC 101), where you were trained in the fundamentals needed to shoot well including introductory self-diagnostics and sustainment you were made ready for the next level (provided you pass the qualification).

After stepping out of your previous comfort zone and pushing your skills envelop to a new performance level, the next step is a quantum leap into the realm of mental processing. What does it take to deliver “the perfect round” on demand and in such challenging times that you may have previously thought were not possible.

In continuation of finding your efficiencies and taking your ability to control the gun to the next level, in this course you are presented with advanced concepts and training drills designed to remove you from the effects of time and guide you through one of the most difficult training swamps you could ever traverse – fully trusting yourself.

Predominantly working in hundredths of a second, you will be presented with the same Jedi mind tricks utilized by the top 1% of shooters on the planet to develop performance shooting efficiencies. Adding on to your knowledge of dropping the subprocesses down into your subconscious, this program of instruction is all about refinement, which means taking something as it is and improving it incrementally until it reaches a higher quality.

The refinement process is about simplifying and improving, It requires focus, attention to detail, and a willingness to revisit and adjust until it produces better results. It’s not about making things perfect but about making them more effective.

You’re already a good shooter so what’s in it for you?

  • Skillsets – At this next stage in your shooting skills development, although always room for mechanical improvement, true mastery can only be developed between your earmuffs.
  • Methodology – Mental approach is everything. The way you perceive a technical problem determines your solution in 1/100 of a second. Change your perspective and you change your reality.
  • Precision – Data collection and analysis is the backbone of self-discovery. You can’t fix something you can’t see. Knowing what to look for and where to find it can only be accomplished with precise observation and accurate performance analysis.
  • Diagnostics – Finding the low hanging fruit is one thing, isolating it and eliminating inefficiencies to develop further control is another. Learning to do this by yourself, without the aid of an instructor, is worth the price of admission.
  • Sustainment – As you’ve already figured out by now, performance shooting is an extremely perishable skill. The course provides you with the tools needed for short and long-term skills sustainment alongside additional performance development.

Gear Requirements

Range kit – a handgun, holster, mag pouches, at least six (6) magazines, eye and ear protection, a shot timer, a ball cap and sunscreen.

Carry – you can run IWB/ AIWB /OWB, concealed/ open. However, GPC instructors advise that you run open OWB initially to develop optimal efficiency and control which will then readily translate to the other access and carry positions.

Data Collection – a notebook and/ or an electronic device such as your cell phone or an iPad to record and analyze your performance data.

Round Count – 800

Mandatory Qualification

All GPC courses are specifically designed for intermediate-level shooters and on up. If you are an entry-level or novice shooter you will not be able to pass the qualification. Intermediate level is defined as achieving a score of 35 or lower per the Wilson 5 X 5 standard.

Due to the nature of performance training which requires a high degree of firearms control, shooting experience and technical skill, an inability to pass the qualification, presents a liability and potential danger to all participants. This two-day introductory program of instruction is not applicable to novice or entry level shooters. Attendees must qualify for participation in the GPC 202 with a score of 35 or lower per the Wilson 5 X 5 Standard.

If you fail the qualification, you may continue to take the course with a blue/ red gun/ SIRT (inert, non-firing, training replica) or are welcome to observe or reschedule for another class.
