This two-day program of instruction is designed for those interested in non-ballistic weapons such as edged weapons, impact weapons and flexible weapons. Training day one (TD1) focuses on the dynamics of controlling your own personal space without a weapon, familiarization and usage of the Karambit. TD1 course content covers what is a Karambit (curved blade) and what’s the difference between a fixed or folding straight edge and a fixed or folding curved edge? What are the tactical advantages and disadvantages of straight blades versus curved blades? How is a curved blade used in self-defense? A Karambit is an impressive utility/ personal security tool, and a remarkable combination of ancient marvel and modern technology. The history of the curved blade spans from the dawn of time to external blade mount on the modern battle harness. In this one-of-a-kind course you will be introduced to the essentials of personal security using this exceptional tool. Scope of study includes: Orientation, lecture on history of the Karambit and its modern application, various blade types, lengths, geometry, styles, handles, steel, what is the best grip size for YOUR hand, personal access, carry, deployment and rapid deployment, how to master the three standard grips and manipulation of the Karambit or curved blade, how to effectively employ both the cutting edge and point, safety ring and operation in effective techniques to ensure your personal safety in a close quarters altercation against an overpowering assailant, wielding a contact weapon (such as a knife, screwdriver, baseball bat, tire iron, broken beer bottle, etc.,), or a firearm (handgun or rifle) and defending against multiple attackers. Additionally, the course provides solutions to the toughest personal defense scenarios you may encounter at work, in your home and especially when you’re out in public.

Building solidly upon TD1, Training day 2 (TD2) expands from the curved blade to the straight edge fixed or folding knife and other improvised edged weapons and branches into the selection and usage of unconventional weapons used in personal defense. Never be unarmed again! In the event, you don’t have access to a firearm, this course teaches you to identify and utilize common hand-held items that can give you the decisive advantage in a violent physical encounter. Learn how to identify, access and employ every-day items in your environment to defend yourself if necessary. You’ll be introduced to techniques using “weapons of opportunity” for self-defense that can be found in your home, at work or anywhere you go. Easy-to-master skills work best for the professionals and that’s what you’ll be taught here. No previous experience is necessary – there is no prerequisite for this course. Instruction Includes: How to run a resource assessment listing and quickly identify improvised weapons, how to access and effectively deploy improvised edged weapons (knife, broken glass, credit card), impact weapons and small hand-held “weapons” such as flashlights, pens, rolled magazines, and the like, and flexible weapons such as your jacket, belt, a hand-towel, trash-can liner, purse-strap and even your shirt.
